Young Citizens’ Say: Referendums and the People

This ‘Referendums and the People’ film looks at the reasons behind having a Referendum and why we have are having a Referendum on AV on 5th May 2011. The films complements a range of downloadable teaching resources available on www.ycsay.co.uk.

The Co-operative and the Institute for Citizenship hosted the Young Citizens’ Say: Referendum 2011 event for over 250 young people at the Emmanuel Centre, Westminster on Thursday 31st March 2011 to discuss politics and the upcoming AV Referendum.

In this short film, our special guests look at ‘Referendum and the People’. This film produced by Catch 21 Productions features Jo Coburn (BBC Politics Correspondent), Mark Harper (Minister for Political and Constitutional Reform), Simon Hughes MP (Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats), Wes Streeting (Labour Councillor and former President of the NUS), Charlotte Vere (No to AV Campaigner) and Mary Davis (Teacher, Mulberry School for Girls).

    i wasnt too sure what referendums were about but this makes it a lot clearer

    maybe we should hav more referendums?
