However, something even more shocking than the monstrous bill itself is the severe lack of news coverage that has been given to it. Not one of the major media stations within the country are running it as its lead story. Instead we have been inundated with the, somewhat convenient, saga surrounding Dr Fox and Adam Werritty in yet another MP scandal. Now that is not to say that issue surrounding Fox and Werritty is not something of importance and is without a doubt something which we should look to eradicate from within our political establishment. However, lets face it, this is hardly the first time that a Tory MP has served the interests of their elite friends or business companions is it (its been just matter of months since Cameron himself openly admitted to giving a prestigious internship to his close friend's son) and this new saga should not come as any big surprise to the majority of the population. Sadly the fate of the UK's greatest institution looks bleak, and even sadder than that is that rather than going out fighting it looks likely to fade out behind yet another smokescreen of MPs behaving badly.

The NHS Hangs In The Balance

Should We Be Laughing Or Crying?

The fate of the NHS today hangs in the balance as Andrew Lansley’s controversial health and social care bill is currently being considered by the House of Lords. The sheer importance of today’s debate is huge as essentially whether or not the NHS itself will continue to exist is under strong consideration.

However, lets face it, this is hardly the first time that a Tory MP has served the interests of their elite friends or business companions is it (its been just matter of months since Cameron himself openly admitted to giving a prestigious internship to his close friend’s son) and this new saga should not come as any big surprise to the majority of the population.

Sadly the fate of the UK’s greatest institution looks bleak, and even sadder than that is that rather than going out fighting it looks likely to fade out behind yet another smokescreen of MPs behaving badly.
