About us
Who are we?
Catch21 is a charitable production company which produces videos and other new media content to help engage young people with politics and their communities. Our charity work is funded by the profits of our commercial arm which offers full scale video production and online promotional services.
Why do we care?
Catch21 believes in democracy. The problem as we see it is that for democracy to function properly, everyone needs to have the same level of information. However due to inability, apathy and inaccessibility this is not always the case. Our aim is to remedy these factors by providing the access and information to participate and by empowering young people to make them feel a part of their communities.
We promote the idea that political participation is the most important step a person can take to influence the decisions that affect their lives. Democracy is compromise, but compromise can only be reached if everyone has their say.
Essentially Catch21’s aim is to make young people more equal.
How do we do this?
We are a platform for young people.
Our blog gives young people aged 18-25 a voice, providing a forum where they can express their opinion and have their say on issues that they feel passionately about.
The younger a person engages in politics, the better, so through Future Bloggers we can provide a way for people aged 14-18 to have their say. We go into schools around the country and ask pupils to write a blog about an issue that interests them.
As a production company, we are able to use our expertise to host and produce a number of shows. From Uni-Q, where we give young people the chance to debate directly with politicians in a Question Time-style format, to Q-MP where we connect young people with politicians by interviewing MPs on topics that directly concern the youth of this country.
In our latest project, Street Politics, young people go on a political ‘speed date’ as the London Mayoral candidates court their votes.
